"When arriving home today at 4pm (Wednesday 8th July) I found our garage had been broken into. The door was locked but had been forced open with a crow bar. They or he/she obviously knew what they wanted as all other items in the garage were left. It happened between 9am and 4pm today.
My Tedman Duraweb Cob size black driving harness had been taken with all stainless steel fittings, a 17" Ideal brown general purpose saddle (stirrups, leathers and girth) had gone whick is used on our 15.3hh Cob/hackney gelding and a full size brown english leather bridle with running martingale with a rubber jointed snaffle. Also my sons Yamaha TTR 125 motor bike and a orange chain saw had been taken. Unfortunatley none of the items were security marked but we have the number of the motorbike and I would recognise the harness anywhere, also the saddle.
We live just outside Monkland, Nr Leominster if anyone can help please keep your eyes open and you can contact me on this email address or contact the Leominster police who have been to the house today.
Please keep everything secure nothing is your own these days.
Tonight I fee really sad as to something our family have really worked hard to earn has been taken from us.
The driving harness is rather special and sentimental and will be very expensive to replace.
JUST WATCH OUT AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR PROPERTY.!"

"We are currently suffering from a spate of thefts on our patch.
Offenders are targeting rural properties and stealing ride on mowers, strimmers and garden equipment worth thousands of pounds. Properties in Hamnish and Thornbury have been targeted and a property in Bringsty had an attempted break in.
We really need your help to catch these thieves as little evidence has been left at the scenes. We believe a White Ford Transit van with the registration mark BP02 VGN is involved. (These are cloned/stolen plates which are obviously not recorded with DVLA!)
If you see this vehicle please call us straight away on: 0300 333 3000
Please do not use our mobile numbers to report this vehicle, all sightings need to go through the main switchboard so they can be coordinated from there.
Please be extra vigilant, we need to catch these thieves.
Don't leave items on show, lock all gates at night and during the day if
you are away from the property.
To help you keep track as to what has been added to the Whats On page, I have added Twitter. There is, however, a Twitter 'Bug' at the moment which prevents you from interacting with the widget, but they promise they are fixing it. The bug stops you clicking login or follow, but if you go to www.twitter.com, you can login in etc. Meantime you will see when I update the events page.
In the nearish future, the Whats on page will be sortable by date or event, but until then, I hope Twitter will make it easier. NB. My Twitter updates started 3 July 09, so shows added before that date, wont be showing on Twitter.Click to See Whats On page now

THE British Horse Society (BHS), British Equestrian Federation (BEF), British Driving Society (BDS) and H&H — on behalf of the entire horse industry — are petitioning for drivers of large horseboxes to be excluded from laws over compulsory and prohibitive rest periods.
In the 2 April issue, H&H reported how the UK body responsible for enforcing transport regulations, the Vehicle Operator Services Agency (VOSA) had effectively banned anyone with a full-time job from driving their HGV [over 7.5 tonne] lorry at weekends by strictly interpreting a European law.
Since 2006, large horseboxes have had to be fitted with a tachograph and HGV drivers required to keep records of driving time. Under EC Regulation 561/2006) drivers must take weekly rest periods of either 24 or 45 hours from any work — not just driving.
The horse industry reacted in outrage to the implication that any rider or parent of rider who has a completely unconnected job to their hobby is not legally be allowed yo drive their horses in a large horsebox for both days of every weekend.
An exception (derogation) to the EC regulation has already been made for the Territorial Army, and BHS chief executive Graham Cory has written twice to Geoff Hoon, Secretary of State for Transport, requesting a meeting to discuss the issue.
"There is such a disjuncture between the requirements of the regulation and the realities of our sport that we must urgently seek a derogation," said Mr Cory. "The more signatures on the petition, the stronger will be our hand in our discussions with UK ministers and Brussels."
As well as seeking a meeting with Mr Hoon, the horse industry group has launched a petition calling on the government to apply to the EC for a derogation for horsebox drivers. We also plan to ask legal experts to analyse the legislation, and galvanise support among MPs.
A number of politicians have already agreed to help lobby the government, including Deputy Speaker in the House of Commons, Sir Michael Lord; David Jones, the shadow minister for Wales; Martyn Jones, MP for Clwyd South; Carl Sargeant, AM for Alyn and Deeside and Conservative MEP for the West Midlands Philip Bradbourn.
The British Horse Society will launch its latest long distance route, The William Morgan Ride, on Friday (22 May) at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel in Wales.
The route is the latest in a series of long-distance trails for riders, walkers and cyclists in Wales, and forms the penultimate stage of the Great Dragon Ride, which will enable riders to travel the length and breadth of Wales on horseback. It is scheduled for completion in 2010.
The route will be officially opened on Friday 22 May at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel, Powys. Information on the route, including maps and horse-friendly accommodation, can be obtained from the BHS Access Department on 01926 707712.
BHS calls on National Audit Office to look at improving road safety for equestrians
The British Horse Society has questioned a recent report from the National Audit Office on improving road safety for vulnerable road users, which considers improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists but does not include equestrians.
Head of the National Audit Office, Tim Burr, said: “Making roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists is a key element in encouraging people to walk and cycle more. While their safety has improved generally, some are more vulnerable, such as child pedestrians from deprived areas.
“The Department for Transport needs to draw on its research programme and the lessons learned from the projects that it funds to find ways of improving safety, especially for groups most at risk.”
British Horse Society Director of Access, Safety and Welfare, Mark Weston, said: “Making roads safer for equestrians is a key element in encouraging people to ride more.
“To produce a report that fails to address the road safety concerns of equestrians is absurd and a wasted opportunity to make recommendations that would improve the safety of all vulnerable road users, not just pedestrians and cyclists.”
The BHS has asked when the National Audit Office will produce a report that looks at improving road safety for equestrians.

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.
The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE'
( In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and Hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE.'
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!
