Thieves at Fun Ride

I’ve received this message this morning from a rider who would like her experience shared to help others avoid being victims at shows, fun rides or any other event.

“Friends of mine came over from Cirencester yesterday to do the north Ledbury Fun Ride with me.  It was a glorious ride and on completion we boxed our horses and went to get a burger sadly leaving our vehicles unlocked.  On return my friend found she had had her handbag stolen.  At first we thought this was an opportunist thief even though we were almost at the far end of the parking.  On her way home (she was not driving) she phoned her banks, mobile provider etc only to find to her horror the thieves had already got £400 out of one account and £600 out of another.  This has to be professionals at work, they had not used an ATM but knew how to get the cash!  Truly amazing to think professionals would target a relatively small event in the middle of no where like that!

So easy to leave car unlocked whilst placing an entry etc but I won’t be doing it again.”

There have also been reports from other types of events. Please be vigilant and keep your valuables hidden and locked up.
