NAF International Hartpury Horse Trials is underway

Following the first day of dressage at the NAF International Hartpury Horse Trials, Germany’s Dirk Schrade leads the CIC 3* competition with Edino on  37.7. The 2* CCI is lead by GBR’s Oliver Smith with Noon Hill on a score of 42.1 and the 1* CCI leader is  Germany’s Franca Luedeke with Cero Song.  There is plenty of local interest with riders from Herefordshire, Worcs, Shrops, Powys and Gloucestershire.

Franky Reid-Warrilow with Dolley Whisper at Hartpury

Franky Reid-Warrilow from Powys is riding Dolley Whisper in the 2*CCI and yesterday posted a dressage of 53.3 for 19th place at this stage. Having broken her hip 7 weeks ago which needed surgery to fix rods to help her recovery, it is amazing to see her back on board and competing at this level so quickly. Last weekend she was competing in the Intermediate Championships at Gatcombe.

Herefordshire is well represented at Hartpury with Louise Harwood and Adam Morgan competing in the CIC 3*, while  Christine Hardinge, Holly Bradshaw and Anna Sherwood  compete in the 1*.

Tom Rowland with The Carnival Cavalier

There are 21 Gloucestershire entries.  Tom Rowland did a lovely test on The Carnival Cavalier for a score of 46.3 for 5th place after day one of dressage.

Worcestershire’s Emily Johnson, Emily Carenza and Vicki Hancox are all contesting the 1*, but fans of the evergreen Barry’s Best and Rosie Thomas can see them in action in the CIC 3*.

Shropshire’s Sophie Wragg is riding Sandy City in the 2* while Carlos Paro has 2 in the 3*.
