Kingsland based show jumper, Erin Cullimore, and her horse My Fletcher, jumped the winning clear round in the jump off to clinch the Amateur Home International Competition at The Wales and West Showground against Wales and Ireland.
“It was a bit tense waiting for the team selection to be posted, but I was so pleased to be representing my country” she said.
After she jumped a clear in the first round and got 4 faults in the second, England and Ireland were equal on 4 faults and had to jump off for first place. As third to jump for England, with Ireland on 8 faults by then, Erin and Fletcher had to jump clear to put England in an unassailable position.
Luckily all the schooling at home came good and Fletcher galloped through the finish with a clear.
“The commentator said, ‘Clear. That wins it for England’. I was so proud of Fletcher and never thought I would ever hear those words in my life!” Erin exclaimed.
Erin and Fletcher train with Sarah French at Kingsland Livery Services and attend the British Showjumping Junior Academy and will be representing Area 33 at the National Junior Academy Team Championships at the end of August.
