Planning Application for a wind turbine near the Three Rivers Ride

This letter has recently been received – your chance to object!

Dear BHS Committee Members

You will be aware of the planning  application  P133481/F for a wind turbine 46.3m to blade tip,  close to (55m) the Three Rivers Ride Bridleway (PRoW PG11) at Great Marston Farm , Risbury, Herefordshire  HR6 0NJ.  I assume you were consulted by the Planning Authority as it will impact adversely on  part of an important Bridleway.

The applicant identifies  his turbine  as being visible along  a  500m section  of the Bridleway.  We have visited the site and walked that section of the Bridleway.  There is no hedge between  the Bridleway and the field in which the turbine is to be located nor its neighbouring field, so that  riders will have open views of it along that stretch.

The LVIA (Landscape and Visual impact Assessment) submitted to support the application describes the turbine as being about 55m from the Bridleway

The Herefordshire Council PRoW Officer submitted a response stating  that he is concerned  it may have a negative impact on horse riders.  But while BHS asks for an absolute minimum distance of 200m between the turbine and the Bridleway, he refers to BHS guidance on distance as being 3 x the height of the turbine which is 138.9m. ie much less.

In addition there appears to be a farm with gallops close by which may use the bridleway as well.

We are objecting to it on behalf of local residents including as a reason   the proximity of the bridleway to the turbine.

If you have already sent in an objection on behalf of the local BHS we would be grateful to see a copy.

If you know of anyone who uses the Bridleway,  especially local riders to it, we would be grateful for telephone numbers to contact them to make sure they are aware of the application so they can respond.

It is a lovely stretch of hard former Bryant and May estate track,  which was a pleasure to walk.

Yours sincerely

 Mary Sinclair

Turbines also catch fire in extreme weather. I and my partner have sent 39 pages of objection citing numerous reasons to refuse the turbine.
