Herefordshire and Ludlow College’s Holme Lacy Campus equestrian centre offers both full time and part time equestrian courses as well as a range of short courses (including BHS). Riding lessons (both one-to-one and group) are available for those aged 10 years plus and of all abilities. The riding school is BHS approved, all instructors are BHS/UKCC qualified and we can offer a variety of well-schooled horses.
Facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas, cross-country course, lecture rooms and hacking through our beautiful 257 hectre estate. Our courses are all delivered by professionally qualified friendly staff.
Students on full time courses will benefit from a wide variety of guest speakers including equine nutritionalists, Parelli Natural horsemanship and physiotherapists as well as visits to key events and organisations such as Badminton Horse Trials, Newmarket British Racing school, stud yards and equine welfare charities. Students also get the opportunity to compete in Inter-College and internally held competitions as well as assist in the organising and running of such events.
Each student is placed into a house team where they compete for points and termly awards. This ensures are true sense of team spirit and enthusiasm where every achievement is recognised.
Each year our students go on to achieve fantastic things, from securing places at universities all over the country to continue their studies, through to work experience and placements with top international yards. Alice Martin-Jones, a Level 3 student, is a current example. Alice’s efforts were rewarded when she was accepted on a superb work experience placement with Mary King, one of Britain’s most prolific equestrians.
