The New Terri Webb Dressage Saddle

Terri Webb has designed and developed the new Terri Webb Dressage Saddle, based on years of experience as a rider and saddle expert.

So what's different about this saddle?

  • The Points of the Tree are positioned further back to enable better freedom of the horse's shoulder
  • Narrow Twist to improve rider position and comfort
  • Wide gullet to improve comfort and freedom of movement of the horses back
  • Layer of foam between flocking and the horse, to ensure a completely smooth bearing surface and comfort for the horse

In need of a new dressage saddle BUT:- Over 50 years of age & not keen on change - Suffering from numerous injuries so technically past it - Common, General Purpose Cob of round proportions - ?????

I called on Terri Webb as in spite of having some saddlery knowledge myself the design of saddles has developed and improved enormously and with it the choice and variety available. With all the negatives above – could I really justify a ‘new’ saddle?
Terri’s approach was positive and sympathetic to my cause. Having sat on many dressage saddles in Terri’s workshop in Sellack we made a short list. I brought my cob along as the fit for him was as important as it was for me – not easy as saddles tended to slip to the right.

Several saddles felt very good but one was exceptional – the Terri Webb Dressage Saddle. Any doubts I had previously about justifying a new saddle disappeared in a flash. This one was something else! I rode on it in the arena and managed to survive a near mishap caused by an energetic chicken and the feel got better and better. My mind was made up that this was definitely the design for us - plus it hadn’t moved an inch on ‘Fred’.

Terri asked if we required any refinements or modifications as the saddle would be made especially for us. Was I happy with the knee block – did I want a thigh block etc? Very little needed adjusting to accommodate my length of knee to thigh so a template was taken of ‘Fred’s’ wither measurement and the order placed.

The saddle arrived promptly and I couldn’t wait to try it. Having been riding in a jumping saddle for months the initial feel was very different. The saddle quickly settled on ‘Fred’s’ back and our whole way of going moved up several levels. Suddenly, as if by magic I was sitting better without making a conscious effort to do so. ‘Fred’ was moving freer over his back, coming through more from behind and so lighter infront. Being a ‘cob’ medium trot had been a struggle – not anymore – we now had a proper difference. I am absolutely thrilled and so is ‘Fred’!!!!!!

In spite of my initial negatives the new Terri Webb Dressage Saddle has improved my riding and ‘Fred’s way of going far more than I could I have hoped, to the point where we are holding our own in affiliated dressage competitions against younger riders on quality horses.
