A brief introduction to Endurance Riding

Endurance GB is the governing body for the sport of Endurance (Competitive Long Distance) Riding in Great Britain. It formulates the rules and organises rides to cater for all levels of ability, whether you want to compete occasionally at local events or are aiming for top class/international competition. They provide over 100 events a year for members as well as many social and pleasure rides, to encourage non-members.
There are competitive rides held in every part of the country from spring to late autumn and local events throughout the year, as well as a comprehensive training and information sharing programme.   Visit their website for more information: www.endurancegb.co.uk or see the list of local Endurance GB groups below.

Types of rides:

Non Competitive Rides (NCRs), sometimes called training/social or pleasure rides, may be of distances up to 40 km.

Competitive Rides (CRs) are between 30-80 km.

Endurance Rides (ERs), these are only for advanced horse and rider combinations. They are the hardest test for both horse and rider.
