FINAL UPDATE: A message has been posted on Facebook, by the person who has been looking after the ‘abandoned’ grey horse and lead the search for his owner. She says: “Sorry for the delay in an update. This is not going to be the news most of you want to hear, but I can’t share with you any details that I have now found out about this horse due to legal reasons connected to him. However, I can say, we are now aware of his history and do not need to continue the search for his owner. Thank you all very much for your help.”
Previous news:
A horse was found at Kinnersley, Herefordshire on 8th December. He’s a grey 16/16.1ish gelding, very friendly, has a head collar on and is shod all round; not clipped.
Update 11 December: This lovely horse’s owners still havent ‘claimed’ him. He has been moved to a safe place so he can be cared for (he was in a crop field with no proper water supply). He seems fit and healthy and is well handled so he has obviously been well looked after up until recently. It looks like he has been shod very recently. The vet will be coming out to him in the next couple of days to give him a once over and scan for a chip. LATEST UPDATE: The horse IS microchipped, so we await further information.
He’s been measured and he is approximately 16hh, we’ll try and get the vet to age him if possible as that may also help with the search for his owners.
If anyone has any information on him could they please call Beth on 07748151153 or Jen on 07917011807. Alternatively they could email Jen at jenhoward1602@googlemail.com

I have just received this message by email:
“I would just like to let everyone know that an attempt was made to steal two of my horses between the hours of 6.00pm Tuesday and 9.00am Wednesday this week.
The horses are in a field at Lower Hardwick just outside Pembridge, Herefordshire and were two very well marked three year old appaloosas about 16.1 so had probably been targeted to order. A fence had been removed and it appears they tried to herd them on to a vehicle. Luckily for me they must have been spooked by the strangers so I think they were unable to corner them. They would only have been used to quiet handling.
In another incident, and this could have been completely harmless, a lady in her thirties was seen photographing my daughters 16.2 chestnut thoroughbred about a mile from the first incident. She had with her a dappled Pit Bull type dog.
The Police have been informed and are being very helpful by informing as many people as possible and driving around that area.
Kind regards,
Stephanie Castell”
