Franky’s Flying

Presteigne based Franky Reid-Warrilow has made an impressive start to her 2015 eventing season by continuing her winning ways of 2014. Partnering her top horse Dolley Whisper, whom she won the autumn international 2* at Weston Park with, they carried on this great form to Somerley Park Horse trials in Hampshire. Again contending an international 2* class, the duo lead from start to finish. A personal best in the dressage topped with an easy double clear, meant they were left comfortably in the lead to win by over five points.

After her win Franky commented on the mares cross country efforts: “I felt that it was well within her comfort zone and we were on cruise control all day, the best round I’ve ever had, she was as smooth as silk.”

Franky was also quick to pay tribute to her two world class trainers. Current Olympic, World and European dressage champion Charlotte Dujardin and the eventing legend Mark Todd:

“I have been working with Charlotte for a couple of years now and it’s really paying off, consistency is key and I think that is now showing through in my scores. As for Mark, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have even been at the event. I was apprehensive about running because I thought the ground would be too wet but when he text me at 7am saying it was perfect I packed up the lorry and left!”

If all goes to plan, the immediate schedule is to head the home produced mare to three key events at advanced international 3* level: Belton, Chatsworth and then a full three day at Saumur in France. A debut at the sports highest four star tier, could then call in the autumn by returning to French turf and contending the countries premier event – Etoiles de Pau.

Whilst performing at the top of her sport, Franky is also building up an impressive base at her family’s home on the Herefordshire/ Welsh borders. With a team of exciting young horses, including an embryo transfer colt from her top mare and renowned stallion Jaguar Mail, there are exciting opportunities for owners to get involved on any level, with horses already based at the yard or new rides. Franky is also available for teaching with her yard boasting top training facilities for all three eventing disciplines.
