Louise Harwood and Mr Potts complete Badminton

‘Mr Potts’ is the 3rd homebred horse Louise Harwood has ridden at Badminton. Previously, Louise, or Wiggy as she is known to family and friends, has ridden full brothers Bit of a Barney and Partly Pickled round the great event.  ‘Mr Potts’ foaling was a tricky one and he was eventually heaved in to the world with the help of vet Graham Potts ‘Potsy’ from the Three Counties Equine Hospital. Jackie Skelton, Louise’s mum, is said to have seen a resemblance between vet and foal and announced he must be called Mr Potts! Little did they know then that this huge foal would one day gallop keenly round Badminton. Handsome is as handsome does! Louise said:…

“We didn’t quite achieve as high as I hoped but on the other hand I am so happy to have completed another Badminton and very proud to do so on my third home bred, Mr Potts. He was a little weary today [Sunday] and had three fences down but generally jumped a good round.”

Mr Potts was one of quite a few horses who was caught out by the difficult line and distance at the Mirage pond which incurred them 20 penalties.

Louise Harwood recently rode at Ballindenisk CICO3* in the British Team for the Nations Cup resulting in a team win and 5th individually. Her ride was Whitson with whom she was reserve for the British Team for last year’s World Equestrian Games. Whitson is owned by Roy Baker and Emma Baker-Jones.
