Wiggy flies the Herefordshire flag at Burghley

The Burghley International Horse Trials is underway. Herefordshire event rider Louise aka ‘Wiggy’ Harwood (nee Skelton) is no stranger to Burghley, but this time, she is competing the 10 year old homebred ‘Mr Potts’, so named because vet Graham Potts  helped with his tricky delivery. Mr Potts, out of a mare called Much of a Muddle,  is a nephew of Louise’s two 4* rides – ‘Bit of a Barney’ and ‘Partly Picked’ both of whom completed Burghley with Louise.Their dam was Gerfuffle who Louise rode during juniors. Barney, now 18, belied his age to win an advanced section at the Wellington Horse Trials last week (see write up and photo in this week’s Horse and Hound, page 43).

‘Much of a Muddle’ , Mr Pott’s dam, is by Roma Diamond Skip, the Irish Draught Stallion who is also local standing in Herefordshire at Jane Manning’s Kilpeck Stud.
