There is a legal requirement for all riding schools to have a licence issued by the local County council - (Riding Establishments Act 1964 & 1970.)
Riding schools can opt to seek approval from either the British Horse Society (BHS) or Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) or both.
The British Horse Society Approvals Scheme assists riders and horse owners in selecting an establishment which will suit their needs. All BHS Approved Establishments are inspected at least once a year and establishments only pass if they have met the most stringent standards of instruction, safety and horse care. |

Facilities include a 20 x 40m covered school, a 20 x 60m all weather arena, show jumps up to BSJA standard and various cross-country fences. Throughout the year HSE run exams for the BHS, Pony Club and British Riding Club.
