AN EVENING WITH THE CROWN PRINCE OF SHOWING

IN AID OF THE IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY (GB)

If you would like to show your horse but feel that you don’t have the knowledge nor the expertise, why not come and join ROBERT OLIVER on Thursday 1st March 2012, from 7pm – 9pm at Kings Equestrian Centre, Sturts Farm, Winslow, Bromyard HR7 4SR. Tickets £7.00 each

Irish Draught Horse Society Regional Representative, Elizabeth Langford, had been thinking of ideas, which would benefit the Members and, at the same time, help the Society.

Liz says ”I had received several calls from members in my area who were keen to start showing their animals but didn’t know where to start.  The Society President, Robert Oliver, lives within my area and has always been very willing to help us promote the Irish Draught, so I thought that I would contact him and ask for his assistance.”

Robert and his wife, Claire, said that they would be delighted to come and talk to members about the preparation for showing, how to dress both horse and handler, which tack should be used for various classes etc., and Liz has arranged for a variety of horses to be there on the night, Cobs, Hunters, Riding Horses, both purebred Irish Draughts and I D Sport Horses, ridden and in-hand, so that Robert can point out what should be done and what could be done to show the horses to their best advantage.

Robert says:” There are many ways to improve the look of any horse in the show ring – even just a simple thing like changing a nose band can make all the difference.”

This is an unique opportunity to hear it straight from the acknowledged expert in all types of showing. Anyone from any area, at any level is most welcome.

Says Liz “I have already sold a lot of tickets so people will have to hurry if they want to avoid disappointment.”
