Early HOYS qualification for show producers Mark Armstrong and Alan Charlesworth

Last week saw one of the first entries secured for Droitwich at Octobers’ prestigious Horse of the Year Show.

Renowned show producers Mark Armstrong and Alan Charlesworth, who relocated from Leicestershire to Droitwich last September, attended the West Midlands PoniesUK In Hand Show at the Three Counties Showground with Mark Armstrong’s 3 year old mare, Romanno Bedriska. Bred out of Olympic dressage stallion Quando Quando she was only bought in November from breeder Jenny Gilchrist in Scotland. Shown in the ring by Alan Charlesworth, they firstly won the Riding Horse Championships and then went on to win the Cuddy Qualifier Championship and also take the Supreme in Show, beating many ridden horses.

To win all three championships and qualify for HOYS in her very first outing is a dream come true for owner Mark Armstrong, and is an amazing performance from Romanno Bedriska. Says Mark, “I am overjoyed with Romanno Bedriska today. She has behaved impeccably at her first show and to win as she has done today is astounding. I knew she had talent and am so pleased that my convictions have come true. She is a real star in the making.”

The partnership hope to continue the showing season with continued success at county shows throughout the country, and also their breeding programme with the two stallions they currently have standing – Broadstone West Country and The Fife Flyer. For more information please visit www.centan.co.uk
