They pride themselves in their excellent client communication, with rehabilitation clientele coming from within all equine disciplines; Dressage, Racing, Eventers, Endurance Horses, Trotters, Hunters, Show Jumpers, Polo, Riding Club, pony Club etc.

Tim and Claire Galer have set up Peasebrook rehabilitation centre, with the aim of providing a first class service for all the patients that enter the centre.  At Peasebrook they strive to ensure that each horse receives an individual program that suits each individual horse’s case. Combining Tim’s expert veterinary skills and Claire’s career as an equine sports therapist with a strong nutritional back ground, the clinic is able to ensure that horses are brought back from injury in the safest way. Therefore this helps to maximise the best chances for a full recovery, as well as aiming to improve each horse’s overall performance. Whether it is to return to Racing, Dressage, Eventing, and Show jumping or just to be a part of the family!

Physical therapy for horses is a rapidly evolving field. Over the past ten years there has been much research published on the use of physical therapy on horses. The treatments used for rehabilitation include ice, heat, exercise, massage, lasers, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and magnetic fields.

The human sports medicine specialist works by referral from a physician. Similarly the equine sport therapist must work in close co-operation with the veterinarian, having sought Veterinary Consent to treat. The successful outcome of physical therapy is dependent on the accuracy of the diagnosis. Input from the rider and trainer is also of great value.

The Team at Peasebrook fulfil a niche where horses in rehabilitation do not fit into the daily regime of the competition / training yard. They provide owners with piece of mind of knowing that their horse is having the best possible chance of recovery to injury. Horse either stay post surgery or come in from other practices for their rehabilitation. They are taken through from post surgical recovery, through box rest, into light in-hand walking exercises. Then designing their individual rehabilitation programme, through Tred-Mill exercise, in-hand work through to ridden training. With the inclusion of the PER ECB Equine Spa, ESMT with Solarium & other treatment options.

Peasebrook accept horses at any point in their rehabilitation programme, from the acute injury requiring diagnostic work up to post surgical cases, box rest cases through to the case that is ready to begin a controlled exercise programme. Horses come in as day cases for Spa treatments, ESMT & Solarium & other day case treatments.

The Director of the centre Tim Galer MRCVS has over 25 years of experience in this field. This is an area where one needs to regularly call upon a wealth of experience to make correct clinical decisions. There is no substitute for having dealt with such a wide range of equine injury and rehabilitation situations.

Peasebrook Equine Rehabilitation Centre offers the ultimate in box-rest facilities with spacious stables. Each stable has the benefit of double aspect views which helps the horse to de-stress and relax whilst recovering from their injury. The fees are competitive and the atmosphere is always friendly and professional.

The goal for each horse at the centre is to not only have the injury recover in a shorter period of time, but to heal with a far greater quality of repair than comparative paddock rest, thereby reducing the chance of re-injury.

Whether your horse has an injured tendon or ligament, muscle soreness or strain, joint pain or even non-healing wounds, Peasebrook Rehabilitation Centre offers the best in professional care specifically designed to help equine athletes on the road to recovery.

Each rehabilitation program is designed, taking into consideration the type, extent of injury and estimated recovery time. This will be done in close consultation with either the referring veterinary surgeon or one of the Centre’s four resident veterinary surgeons.

Progress report’s are issued to the trainer and/or owners of the horse throughout the rehabilitation process.

At Peasebook Rehabilitation Centre you will find a complete range of treatments and courses geared toward the recuperation and fitness of sports horses. The services are backed by extensive research, and administered by  professional staff that share your compassion and concern for the equine athlete. The innovative rehabilitation treatments have been demonstrated to greatly speed recovery from illness or injuries. Peasebrook rehabilitation centre is able to take both long and short-term cases, and will do everything in their power to suit your individual requirements.
