More Equestrian Success for Gloucestershire!

Following on from the medal winning performances of Gloucestershire riders at the Olympics and Paralympics, the strength of the county in creating equestrian talent has been proved again with the success of the Cheltenham Panthers Show Jumping team finishing 5th out of 101 teams at the recent British Riding Club Show Jumping Championships at the world renowned Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead, Sussex.

Last year the same team of Jeanette Stayt, Pippa Wilson and Pippa Morris achieved 7th place at this prestigious event and a delighted Michelle Holder, Team Manager said “I am thrilled and overjoyed by the result; for Jeanette, Pippa and Pippa to emulate their placing last year is incredible.’

‘This is a national competition open to all UK Riding Clubs and was made even more special due to the fact each team only has three members and all three scores count. It made for a wonderful competition, only decided when the very last rider from the very last team had competed. No-one knew the results until they were announced.’

Michelle continued ‘It is a testiment to the depth of talent in Cheltenham Riding Club that we sent three teams to these Championships. We had a great weekend and I was impressed with how well all our members did as the standard of British Riding  Clubs has risen over recent years. It was lovely to ride on a surface instead of grass and this added to the occasion, with many more spectators and supporters than last year.  I am very proud with how all our members rode – they were a credit to our Club and I’m already looking forwards to next year!’
