Muscle Care – Samsara Equitation feature in Horse Magazine

“Like humans, horses are powered by muscles, which are vital but often overlooked. As a result, they are put at increased risk of injury. When issues do occur, they are frequently missed.  Many problems, from lameness to a loss of performance and behavioural issues, can be traced back to muscle pain, too.

I [Kerry Turner] was inspired to find out more after seeing a horse showjumping in France.  The stallion, Vigo, enchanted me with his athleticism and lightness, but I found out that three years before, he was on the equine scrapheap due to injury. Vigo was nursed back to health at Samsara Equitation, a rehabilitation centre (formerly in France, but now based in Wales) specialising in muscular problems, particularly lameness and loss of form.

My subsequent visit to the centre led me to consult some of the world’s leading experts on horse musculature.  This is what I learned…”
