Jules Hudson Supports the Equestrian Olympic Legacy

TV Presenter and leading face of the BBC hit series Escape to the Country and Countryfile, Jules Hudson has jumped on board to support the Hoof equestrian legacy. The CLA Game Fair was held at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire last weekend (19-21st July) the event hosted Jules’ debut as an ambassador of the Hoof project, the British Equestrian Federation’s (BEF) Olympic Legacy programme.

Jules, who has long held a passion for all things countryside – including horses and riding – has been a keen rider since he was a lad. “There can’t be many better ways to enjoy the countryside than from the back of a horse. There are so many areas of Britain to explore that are off the beaten track, and on horseback is often the very best way to access them. Riding not only allows you to relax, unwind and appreciate your surroundings from a different perspective, but it keeps you fit and active, too,” he enthuses.

The popular TV presenter has fulfilled a number of equine engagements in the last few years through his TV work, including taking part in an endurance ride in the Lake Vyrnwy area of Wales, Inter- Hunt Relay’s, as well as paying a visit to the charity, The Horse Trust – all for the BBC’s Countryfile. Jules also recognises the freedom that riding brings and is particularly keen to support the Hoof initiative Take Back the Reins, which aims to encourage new and lapsed riders into the saddle.

The ‘Take Back the Reins’ programme has been developed by Hoof as an initiative to get more people riding through approved riding schools. The tailored series of lessons is aimed specifically at encouraging new and former riders to take up or get back into riding in a social atmosphere. The format seeks to address the main barriers to the sport and with a customer focussed approach, matching horse, rider and coach to set riders off on their equestrian journey. By laying the foundations, riders can then choose to explore the myriad benefits of riding, such as hacking out in the countryside or taking part in competitions.

Andrew Finding the Chief Executive of the BEF said; “We are delighted that Jules has agreed to be an Ambassador for Hoof. Not only is he passionate about rural affairs and the part that horses play in the tapestry of the countryside, but he is a great role model in that he has built a very successful career around this life-long passion.
