BHS Herefordshire News Update

Autumn is now upon us and a lot has happened in the Region this year.  The series of evening talks kicked off in March in Kidderminster and the same series is being held this Autumn at BHS HQ, Warks.

Our Adult Gymkhana Competition in memory of Heather Lucas, our late Regional Chairman, took place in April and this year 12 teams competed for the coveted ‘Clueso Cup’ and after a few hours of healthy competition the Red Devils team from Worcestershire took the cup home.  We are adding new games for 2014 to keep the competition exciting.  If you want to find out more please contact Andrea Jackman or join us on Facebook ‘West Midlands BHS’ to see all the photos from this years’ competition.

Also in April was the Any Horse Any Rider Clinic at Kings Equestrian, Bromyard.  Our instructor for the day, Jo Winfield FBHS, was delighted with the horses and riders progress, she said ‘As a BHS Instructor delivering these days I enjoy seeing the horses and riders often coming in looking a bit nervous, then after a few minutes they quickly settle and it is delightful to see them leave the sessions in a more confident manner.  Riders meet other riders and realise they all have similar issues and from this friendships are made.  I recommend these days to any combination of any level’.  Look out for future dates in the area soon.

The local volunteer Committee’s Annual Meeting takes place on Wednesday 16 October at The Wellington Pub, Wellington, HR4 8AT starting at 7.30pm.  There will be a short business meeting followed by a talk from jockey Richard Johnson.  Herefordshire born Richard and his family have a long history with racing, his father was an amateur jockey and his mother is a successful trainer. Richard will be speaking about the highs and lows of life in the fast lane.

The second CPD day of the year will be held on Tuesday 29 October at Warwickshire College, Moreton Morrell, CV35 9BL with Clive Milkins on ‘Developing the Ability to Achieve’. Clive’s passion is coaching and developing talent in everyone and he will be encouraging coaches and riders alike. Anyone is welcome to attend the CPD Day and the day will count as a Refresher for the Register of Instructors.
