Hereford Equestrian Website Performance 2013

The stats are in for 2013 and I’m delighted to report the following website traffic for the period 1st Jan – 31st Dec, showing a significant increase than for the same period in 2012.

Google Analytics Stats 2013:  324,108 visits versus 258,597 in 2012 – up 25.33%
(Server stats 2013: 566,572 visits)

Google Analytics Stats 2013:  104,058 unique visitors vs 86,421 in 2012 – up 20.41%
(Server stats 2013: 291,966 unique visitors)

Google Analytics Stats 2013:  1,137,659 pageviews vs 993,296 in 2012 – up 14.53%

The technical bit – The figures shown above are the Google analytics stats but with the server stats below in brackets. Google analytics are widely used by many websites. However, it’s well known that Google analytics figures are very conservative hence the server stats numbers being much higher (see figures in brackets).  Generally the truth lies somewhere between Googles estimates, and the server hosting the Hereford Equestrian website. This is as accurate as we can be.

Hereford Equestrian’s Server Stats as supplied by Wyenet (who are an excellent web host!) show figures between 50 – 60% higher than Google analytics. The explanation for this is explained below by Wyenet:

“Generally the truth lies somewhere between Googles estimates, and the [Hereford Equestrian] servers. We are able to configure a set of stats which filter out hits from robots like Google themselves, Bing, Yahoo etc, and only leave the real human visitors.
Even so, we generally see a good 50-60% more visits that Google’s guesswork. Quite a lot of people use firewalls, script blockers, and other tools which effectively hide their visits from Google, but not from the web servers log files!.
Google’s tools are useful, but like all statistics, that’s what they are, an interpretation of data. But the web server itself has more accurate data to start with, so its just how its used that makes the difference.”
