Advice on In-hand Showing

Question: “I’d love some advice on in-hand and (in-time) ridden showing classes with my registered welsh section a, Sid (Pentymel Celyn). He is a cracking looking little pony (in my opinion) he has one sque-wiff back foot though- if his hind feet were hands on a clock they would read 11 oclock (hope that makes sense?). Realise at local show level this may not be picked up but would this mean he could not do a higher level if we wanted to?

I’ve attached a photo in his winter wolles but one of the best more recent ones I have.  Your opinion on him would be much appreciated as I do look at him through rose tinted specs.”

Answer from Claire:

I think you should speak to your farrier and ask him to assess the pony’s feet and see him trot up.  With regular, correct trimming, you can improve the feet a great deal.  I think this will not effect him in the ring.  The pony looks a lovely sort, so I hope it all works out.”
