Showing a Skewbald 8 Month Old Filly

Question:

Hi Clare,

I was wondering if I could have some advice. I’m going to start showing my skewbald 8 month old filly this show season and was just wondering what classes I could do with her and does she need trimming and plaiting?  I was going to start at local level then progress on up.

Look forward to hearing back, many thanks, Ryan

Answer from Claire:

Hello Ryan

You could show your filly in hand classes, and you must establish her approximate adult height taking into consideration the size of her sire and dam.  Also whether she is cob type or hunter type.  She would  need trimming and plaiting. As a yearling it is best to plait both mane and tail.  You would obviously need to school and train her in hand, and show her in a bridle.

At local level she could go in both coloured and open classes.

Good luck with your showing.

Regards

Claire
