Dujardin does the double on the fourth day of the Festival of Dressage

Charlotte Dujardin, Olympic Gold medallist continued her winning streak with two fantastic tests on the fourth scorching day of the Hartpury Festival of Dressage (Saturday 7 July).

Dujardin came top of the table in the Shearwater Young Dressage Horse Semi Final – 6 year old horses this morning, after a beautiful test on Hawtins San Floriana which gave them a score of 8.64. Sara Gallop riding BKS Fantasia came in a very close second with 8.54. Edward Creamer riding Hocus Pocus IV came in third with a score of 8.44.

Charlotte put in another spectacular performance on her joint owned horse Gio this afternoon, to secure first place in the Equine Construction Advanced Medium 96. She shot to the top of the leader board with a score of 77.54% and left the competition little hope of catching up.

Calum Whitworth riding Fernando achieved a score of 71.32% putting him in second place. Robyn Walker riding Master Merlin came in third with 69.69%.

Nicola Buchanan rode Half Moon Dark Magic to victory in the Freeflex FEI CDI Intermediate I with a great score of 71.882%. Nicola was first to compete and managed to hold on to the top spot for the whole competition. Vicky Thompson Winfield riding Artist came in second with a score of 70.912%. Nikki Barker and Durable came third with 70.794%.
Nicola said: “I am so thrilled to win. Paddy is getting so much more confident and really enjoying the competition. I really enjoyed riding him. Hartpury is great.”

Chloe Bernard, owner of Freeflex which sponsored the FEI CDI Intermediate I, trained her horses at Hartpury while she was at Cheltenham Ladies College.

It was a fantastic day for Hartpury graduate Rob Barker who won the Shearwater Young Dressage Horse Semi Final – 5 year old horses class. A brilliant ride on River Rise Isabella saw them claim the top spot with a score of 8.66. Rob studied his college course and degree at Hartpury and rode in the Academy eventing Hartpury College’s Take It ToThe Limit.

Kerry Mackin took the runner-up spot riding Izonik with a score of 8.54. Mathew Baker riding Kiss and Tell came in third with 8.24.
Becky Moody and James Bond 2 were victorious in Shearwater Young Dressage Horse Semi Final – 4 year old horses class after a lovely test achieved them a score of 8.24. Lucinda Elliot was hot on her heels riding Hawtins Lirica, but they couldn’t quite knock Becky off the top spot. A score of 8.22 put them in a close second place. Becky Moody also took third place riding Jack Diamond with 8.16.

Hartpury student Lucy Pincus was back for another day of the Festival of Dressage as she competed in the Equine Construction Advanced Medium 96 on Sheepcote Lets Go.
Lucy’s been on an incredible journey with her ride Sheepcote Doncaliste. The combination competed in the 5 year old championship at the Hartpury Festival of Dressage seven years ago and have come back to place eighth in the LeMieux FEI Grand Prix this year after a lovely test.

Hartpury was delighted to watch graduate Sarah Rao on Waldessarini in the Freeflex FEI CDI Intermediate I and Daniel Bremner on McCoy in the Equine Construction Advanced Medium 96.

The Saturday Gala Evening is about to start at the Hartpury Festival of Dressage. World-renowned dressage music composer will show spectators how he creates the perfect composition for a dressage freestyle.
