Talented Herefordshire 15 Year Old gets through to HOYS

Olivia Davies

Olivia Davies, member of the North Hereford Hunt branch of the Pony Club, managed to gain a coveted place last weekend, to compete in the final of the British Showjumping Bronze League, being held at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) in October this year.

Olivia and her horse “Spoonie” gained a place in the semi final, in a direct qualifier at Allen’s Hill Worcestershire earlier in May which was no mean feat considering they were up against experienced senior competitors. They then travelled 200 miles to Bishop Burton College in North Yorkshire on the 5th August, where the Bronze League Northern semi final was held.  In a class of 60 horses there were only 7 places up for grabs for the final at  HOYS. It was a nail biting 3 rounds in the 28c heat, but despite the odds, they did it.  There are 7 horses from the northern region and 7 from the south competing in the final on 3rd October at the NEC, and we wish Olivia and Spoonie the best of luck.

A big thank you must go to Bryan Smith, Olivia and “Spoonie’s” trainer and to Malvern College for all their support and encouragement.
