A series of clinics to help riders use their minds to improve their performance

Have you ever said to yourself “I hate show jumping because I can never see a stride” and then you enter the arena and promptly miss at ever fence! Have you ever considered what goes on in your head and how your thoughts can become a self fulfilling prophecy?

Kelda Wood has ridden professionally in all disciplines, including point to point and racing under rules, for over 20yrs. She is now working as a personal performance coach and has become excited about the impact that specific training on a riders mental approach can have at all levels of the sport.

“I have been working with wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women at The National Sports Centre at Lilleshall and the effect the coaching has on the participants performance is incredible,  simply by getting them to think about things in a slightly different way. I have become fascinated by the effect this coaching can have on an individual’s confidence and self belief and I am now very aware of the potential benefits that could be gained through introducing this kind of training in the equestrian world” says Kelda

She is now running a series of clinics that will look at a building a riders self belief, tackling limiting behaviours and turning them into personal strengths. The clinics will begin in a classroom situation with the focus being placed on looking at a rider’s mental approach, followed by a ridden session where participants will get the opportunity to put into practise the techniques introduced in the morning session

“This is a new approach to training at the lower level of the sport and I am really interested to see how much of an improvement it will make to a riders performance” says Kelda
