£500,000 awarded to support the advancement of heritage and arts and rural and equestrian communities.

SEIB Insurance Brokers and Benefact Group announce Movement for Good larger grant winners.

For the fourth year running, SEIB Insurance Brokers and the Benefact Group are giving away £1 million to charities through the Movement for Good Awards.

The British Horse Society, World Horse Welfare and the Society of Antiquaries of London were chosen by a panel of judges to receive a share of £500,000.

The British Horse Society and World Horse Welfare will each receive £10,000 and the Society of Antiquaries of London will receive £12,000.

World Horse Welfare will use the money from the Movement for Good for their Horse Owner Support Project. This scheme is seeking to support vulnerable people within traditional horse breeding and owning communities. With an ageing population amongst these communities, the physically demanding nature of horse care can lead to people struggling to maintain their animals and lead a normal life. This project seeks to stop situations reaching a critical point.

The largest equestrian charity in the UK, British Horse Society makes a positive impact on the lives of horses and horse owners through projects and campaigns covering education, welfare, access and safety.

The project, Sensing History at the Society of Antiquaries of London will benefit from the Society of Antiquaries share of the Movement for Good money. This project sets out to provide targeted learning activities for local disadvantaged community groups by offering eight half day workshops a year for individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

The awards are designed to help charities make a real difference in their communities. More than 500 charities applied for the funding, which is being put towards the advancement of heritage and arts, education, rural and community, climate, human rights and equality. The winning projects were selected against four criteria: impact and effectiveness, sustainability, innovation, and care and compassion.
