Book Launch

Book launch on Saturday October 14th at the Castle bookshop in Ludlow from 12noon until 2pm.

This novel – Ride the Wind – is suitable for children aged 8 and upwards. It is a must read for horse lovers and with the sequel- Ride the Waves to be released shortly it is a brilliant book for struggling readers, who once invested in the main characters will be desperate to see how the storyline develops.

Set in Western Australia this tale of jealousy and revenge sees teenage sisters embark on a perilous ride through the outback. Only the courage and devotion of their horses, can save them. A magic kingdom secretly existing deep in the bush harbours a bitter love triangle. The wicked fairy, Alba, will use all her dark arts to rid herself of her rival. The girls and their horses will be caught up in the crossfire, and only by seeking the help of a Koori shaman can they hope to survive.

The plot is exciting and contains every element any young girl would love, including fairies, horses, animals of every description, as well as magic, romance, and adventure in a world where girls are the ones who make the difference rather than ubiquitous boy heroes. The stories are a mix of reality and pure imagination, drawing on Aboriginal mythology and traditional storytelling. They combine magical fantasy and adventure with historic evidence and theories based on modern day fact and up-to-date research. In addition, factual details regarding the natural flora and fauna of this beautiful part of the world, make this a truly educational, exhilarating, and immersive read. With the penultimate chapter set on Christmas Eve and the final chapter on Christmas Day, it would make the ideal Yuletide gift.

Review by Edwina Currie.

“Wonderful books! Well done. I only wish I was 10 years old again when I was deep into “My friend Flicka” and pestered my parents for riding lessons. The story of the girls, their adventures with their horses, and how persistence and fortitude see them to a successful conclusion, is the stuff of dreams.”

“Ride the Wind is probably the best book I’ve ever read.”
